I really like the idea of a bijou little place, perhaps at a Literary Festival, where people can take a moment to sit down and write a letter to someone.  I have a vision of a stylish attractive medium sized shed with an antique writing bureau, a comfy sofa, some bookshelves, a standard lamp or two, a leafy view from some big windows, a central table and chairs, a soft patterned rug, some inspiring artwork on the walls and shelves, a jumble of trinkets, and lots and lots of stationery and stamps, so that everyone can have a go if they fancy it.  Maybe an old writing box too on the table or some clipboards so people can go and find a space outside to write a letter as well if they’d rather.  If people wanted their letters displayed then one wall could be allocated to pin them to but ultimately that’s not the aim. The actual act of writing a letter is.  And of course posting it.  I’m wondering if Royal Mail do temporary postboxes for festivals? That would be the cherry on the top for The Letter Writing Shed – one with its very own postbox!  I can feel a letter to George Clarke (and his Amazing Spaces) coming on…
