Beatrix Potter fans are celebrating the 150th anniversary of her birth today, with Royal Mail releasing commemorative stamps and a first edition of The Tale of Peter Rabbit going up for auction. The much-loved children’s author, who died aged 77 in 1943, wrote 35 books in her lifetime, many of which are still read as bedtime stories.
